Who is this suitable for?

These activities have been designed for ages 8-14, with fun and adventure in mind! All activities are designed to be challenging and fun but are completely optional on the day. The program is ideal for those who are starting to get bored with traditional Vacation Care programs, but where parents still like the peace of mind of their child being fully supervised by qualified professionals for a full day of activities.

Do I have to be a Scout to participate?

No! These fun school holiday programs are open to general public as well as members of Scouts. With full supervision by the professional Outdoor Education Staff at Cataract, you’ll be in good hands. No experience required!

Where are you located?

Cataract Activity Centre is located on Baden Powell Drive, Appin. It is approximately 7 minutes from Appin town centre, and is less than 30 minutes drive from Campbelltown, Wollongong, Picton, and Heathcote.

What to bring
  • All food for the day, including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea
  • A water bottle
  • Wear sun-safe clothes ready for adventure – covered shoulders, shorts or pants (at least to mid-thigh as some activities require a harness), sturdy closed in shoes, hat
  • Change of clothes for the waterslide – swimmers, boardshorts, rashie, and a towel
  • Change of (old) clothes for Challenge Valley – you MUST wear enclosed shoes and you will get wet and muddy!
What safety measures do you have in place?

Scouts has strict safety measures in place to ensure the highest level of safety across our activities.

All of our activity instructors at Cataract are qualified in Outdoor Education and highly experienced in operating our activities.

All staff also undertake mandatory training in child safety and WHS, as well as hold Working With Children Checks and National Police Checks.

My child has additional needs, can these be accommodated?

We want to make our program as inclusive as possible, and we have experience making adjustments for a range of different abilities and requirements.

If your child has specific accommodations, please get in touch with us via email or phone before booking and we can discuss what options are available to make them feel as included as possible.

What happens in wet weather?

Our program will continue rain, hail, or shine!
Most of our activities can continue to run in light rain weather, and in the event that an activity is cancelled due to weather and safety reasons, we have a covered activity space with alternative activity options. Our qualified staff will make the best decision for safety on the day.
